Shifting Climate - Why This Year's Chestnut Harvest May Not Last Through December
If you're planning on organic chestnuts for your holiday recipes, now is the time to stock up. Due to shifting weather patterns and a changing climate, the traditional chestnut season is coming earlier and wrapping up faster.
We’re already seeing signs that our chestnuts may not be available past the end of November, or at least not at the same quality you’ve come to expect from us. That’s why we’re encouraging you to plan chestnut recipes around Thanksgiving celebrations, rather than waiting until the winter holidays. From roasting to stuffing, now’s the sweet spot to enjoy them at their peak.
Will this be the case every year for our chestnut season? Odds are, probably. The good news is that the trees are healthy and the harvest is still strong.
We are thinking that perhaps we'll have some small-sized chestnuts left in December to offer at reduced pricing, but we will have to see as the weeks go on.
In the meantime, we are making sure to store the chestnuts at optimum humidity and temperature so that they stay fresh as long as possible for you.

We’re excited to share that our friend, top Chicago‑based Chef Norbert, has published a new post featuring our chestnuts: “Boiled Chestnuts: The Unsung Hero of Effortless Peeling!”
Of course we feel honored to have our chestnuts featured in such a thoughtful piece, but we really appreciate his simple recipe that highlights the pure, wonderful flavor of our chestnuts. Enjoy them as a treat on their own, or the perfect addition to your other recipes.
Thank you for being part of our community.
Warmly,
Ted & Jody
